2017 SC DHHS Medicaid Task Force
The year 2017 served as a critical time in our state as DDHS determined how to roll out changes to the Medicaid program as it related to autism services.
SC ABA formed a Task Force comprised of members who sought to gather information and make recommendations to the Board for ways to further accomplish the mission of SC ABA and to address the every-growing changes in our state. The following group of individuals from across the state comprised the Task Force and have been working on these critical issues: Courtney Thames, David Green, Kelly Long, Kerri Krauss, Shelly Weathers, Matt Wood, Melissa Farah, Melody Nichols, Nicole Orsini, and Zahra Hajiaghamohseni. Current Board members also participate and former Board members Scott Braud, Meghan Helman, and Billy Edwards are serving in an advisory capacity. The task force has met at least twice a month in an effort to affect change.
In light of the new Medicaid ABA program, the Task Force proposed a survey of our members. They felt that in order to better serve our membership, we needed to understand the current issues and how they were impacting providers. The SC ABA Task Force created the following survey (see results through the link below) to assess the needs in our state and the current practices of behavior analysis with regard to funding, specifically Medicaid.
The Task Force nominated the following members to speak directly with Medicaid about the roll out of their policies: Scott Braud, Matt Wood, David Green, and Kerri Krauss. This group met directly with the members of DHHS that create the policies.
We appreciate the time they, and all members involved in this process to date, have devoted, and we appreciate their efforts on behalf of all impacted families across the state.
